Georgina
& Caroline Evers-Swindell

NZ's most loved athletes.

Profile

In the truly global sport of rowing, the Evers-Swindell sisters are supreme athletes. In a sport which is clearly both physically and mentally demanding, Caroline and Georgina have demonstrated their sheer excellence, recently culminating in Olympic Gold for the second time.

Previous experience
Arguably the world's best double sculls duo, two-time world champions, they were named the world's best female crew in 2003.

They made Kiwi history with their Gold Medal win in the Women's Double Scull in Athens and again in Beijing in August 2008. New Zealand had never previously won an Olympic medal in this event before Athens in 2004.

Together they have won back to back world titles at Serville, 2002 and Milan 2003. In 2003 they were named FISA Crew of the Year and won the Halberg Award in 2001.

International success: 1st double scull World Champs Japan 2005,
1st double scull World Champs Milan 2003, 1st double scull World Champs Serville 2002, 2nd double scull World Champs Lucerne 2001, 2nd quad scull World Champs Lucerne 2001.

Georgina: 1st 2000 indoor rowing erg World Indoors Boston 2002, 1st 2000 indoor rowing erg World Indoors Boston 2000.

The Evers-Swindell twins have taken command of their event in one of the most physically demanding of Olympic sports. They are powerful, tenacious, articulate and smart. Just the qualities which could see them being the face of rowing for some time to come.

Rowing is a sport that is synonymous with achievement, commitment, goals, sustained effort, teamwork, perfect application of technology and technique. It is about agreeing a direction and then all pulling in unison to achieve the goal and excellence - pursuing a common course for success.

Awards
Caroline and Georgina were awarded Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the New Year Honours list of 2004/2005.

Two great Kiwi women popular for telling their motivational and inspiring story!
