Glen
Osborne

Former all blacks and chiefs player.

Profile

Glen Osborne, often known as Ozzy, is one of New Zealand’s most humourous sporting heroes.

Background
Grown up understanding that to achieve anything you had to work, Glen used these strengths, learnt as a young country lad, to succeed in the rugby world.

He really came of age when selected for the NZ 7’s team, making a huge impact and gaining ‘Player of the Tournament’ in nearly every competition played.

Rugby

He played his first game for the All Blacks in 1995 and achieved 29 caps with 19 tests throughout his career. As an All Black he quickly became popular off and on the field.

Glen was selected for every team in the Black jersey, from NZ Maoris, NZ 7’s, NZ Colts, NZ Divisional, NZ Academy, and NZ A, to the ultimate, the All Blacks. Just returning from 4 years in Japan, he was quickly snapped up by Maori TV, identifying his talent as a TV Sport Presenter. Glen also became one of North Harbour Rugby’s adopted sons, and was an intricate part of “the brown brother’s” legacy.

Current work
Having venturing into business as the proud Owner/Operator of the successful Matakana Butchery for two years, Glen then went on to work part time on a voluntary basis as an Honorary Fisheries Officer.

Police force
He then took on the challenge of fulfilling a lifelong dream of becoming a policeman and has recently returned to Whanganui where he is now stationed in his role with the NZ Police Force.

An engaging event speaker, he is suitable for a wide variety of audiences and can show the many parallels between succeeding in sport and the business world.
