As we celebrate our 30th year, our Managing Director, Louise Ryburn, shares her insights and tips on what you need to know when booking a speaker, entertainer or MC.
There is a lot that goes into curating the perfect speaker programme and ensuring everything runs smoothly – we are here to manage the full process for you and ensure you get the perfect speaker to match your requirements and everything runs smoothly. We are your partners and we want your audience to have a truly memorable experience. Having been in the business for nearly two decades I have found that there are some key factors that will ensure success!
1. Understand your audience
What is the mode of the moment, what’s impacting them, what are their interests, ages and backgrounds. Definitely don’t focus on a speaker that appeals to you personally if you are not the audience demographic.
2. Be clear on the brief
Be clear on what outcomes your are looking for, and ensure that everyone in the decision making process is on the same page with the brief – saves sticky situations later down the track. Ensure your speaker is clear on the brief – we always recommend having the brief in writing and a conversation which ensures clarity. It is always of benefit to have the briefing in plenty of time prior to the event so the speaker is not having to scramble to research at the last minute.
Ensure you have commitment in contract form – this is purely to protect you from any potential misunderstandings – we advise always having a contract in place which clearly outlines the expectations and terms, and protects both parties. We love handshake agreements but lets face it we are all so busy it helps to have clarity and can save a lot of time in the long run.
