Profile

Astar was born and raised in Western Southland in a place called Tuatapere.

Background
Her father is a talented musician originally from Belfast Northern Ireland and her Mother of Kati Mamoe decent has given Astar the strong foundations, which make her typically unique.

ā€œIā€™m global with a foot in both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere,ā€ she quips.

So what makes Astar so different some may ask?

Well her interests are wide and varied and include:
An accomplished botanical beautification expert
A stunning Artist
A competent Cook
In another life Astar believes she would have been a fabulous research scientist.

Other very fine accomplishments to add to the credentials include:
Working as a print making artist, florist, interior-designer as well as working as a finishing artist for the Sultan of Brunei - no mean feat!

Television
Her television career began when she returned to New Zealand, did a few weddings as a florist for a few crazy people, before being head hunted to join the Television New Zealand Good Morning Show in 1996.

In those early days on the Good Morning Show she tirelessly educated the nation on all things pertaining to the splendor of flowers, before branching out into crafts, followed several years later with cooking.

She has been likened to a modern day Aunty Daisy.
