Profile

Tina Cross is an icon of the New Zealand entertainment industry and in a career spanning more than three decades, she is still very much at the top of her game. Tina will proudly release Lay Down Your Heart, an album of her own original songs, adding singer-songwriter to her power packed list of credits.

Awards
Tina became a household name when she sang the winning entry, Nothing But Dreams, in the 1979 Pacific Song Contest and in 2007 she received the Queens honour of an OMZM for her services to the New Zealand Music Industry. Tina's career success has established her as one of New Zealand’s Leading Ladies of Contemporary Music, Television and Musical Theatre.

Singer
Tina has performed throughout Asia, UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand appearing alongside stars Sammy Davis Jnr and Tom Jones, amongst others. She has won a host of awards including Most Professional Performer, Top Female Vocalist, Best Theatrical Performer and an Australian Johnny O'Keefe MO. She has had three successful NZ solo albums, headlined on TVNZ and BBC Television with her own series and specials and also topped the Australian and German charts with her Australian 80s techno pop band, Koo De Tah.

Musical theatre

As a Musical Theatre Madam Tina has performed in two separate productions of Cats, in 1995 and 2009, receiving stellar reviews both times for her rendition of Memory. Tina repeated the double show trick when she played Roxie Hart and also Velma Kelly in two separate productions of Chicago in 2001 and 2005. Other stage show highlights include The Rocky Horror Show and Once Were Warriors the New Zealand tours and the Australian Production of Sisterella - Melbourne critics summed it up describing Tina's performance as magnificent and mesmerising. In 2011 Tina played the role of Gigi in Miss Saigon, for North Shore Music Theatre’s very successful season at Auckland's Civic Theatre.

Television
Television highlights include the Pacific Song Song Contest in 1979, Tina's stint on Dancing With The Stars in 2008, To Sir With Love a tribute to Sir Howard Morrison in 2009, plus numerous Coco Cola Christmas In The Park performances, over the years. Live performance highlights include the NZSO tour, Nothing But Dreams in 2009 and To Christchurch With Love a fundraiser for the earthquake of 2012.

When Tina is not soloing, she loves to spend her time in vocal harmony heaven as one of The LadyKillers with Jackie Clarke, Suzanne Lynch and guest performer Annie Crummer - the dream team of NZ's finest female singers.

Charity work
Tina is an avid supporter of performing arts and has recently become Patron of North Shore Musical Theatre. She is a past National Ambassador for Dress For Success, a current Ambassador for Totara Hospice, and Women's Refuge and she regularly performs at varied charity events throughout New Zealand. Tina is also a health and wellness advocate and as an experienced leading lady in her field, she has become increasingly sought after as an MC and Speaker particularly at women’s events, throughout New Zealand.

As a mentor, Tina Cross offers a wealth of experience. She has honed her craft, as a stage, concert, cabaret and television performer as well as recording artist and most recently, singer/songwriter.
