Claire Chitham was diagnosed with a crippling autoimmune disorder at 13, which caused increasingly painful stomach cramps whenever she ate. She was informed that this inflammatory bowel disorder would be a lifelong condition, likely requiring immune-suppressant medication indefinitely.
