James is the only person in the country to have appeared as a lawyer before the Waitangi Tribunal and as a stand-up comedian in three series of TV’s Pulp Comedy.
Current work
James has performed his thinking brand of off-beat observational stand-up comedy in NZ, Australia and the US. He also organised and performed in comedy tours of duty in Timor in 2000/01 for NZ and UN peacekeepers. His musings on life as a corporate lawyer have been published and he has also appeared as a mock legal correspondent on Radio Sport.
James has undertaken numerous corporate speaking engagements as an after-dinner speaker, MC, hoax presenter and debater. As a conference MC he’s comfortable conducting Q&A with guest speakers and facilitating group discussions. He has also written, performed and produced corporate training videos.
As a practising lawyer James is the corporate-friendly face of comedy, always happy to research his brief and tune his performance to the needs and sensitivities of his audience.
James performs stand-up comedy regularly at the Classic and is a writer for TV3’s 7 Days programme.
James was very supportive of me as the organiser of the conference and contributed willingly when asked. He added value to the preparation and throughout the 2-day event. James was very well ... keep reading prepared, he did his homework, and used material that was relevant, up to date, engaging and made people laugh. He bought a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm to the MC role but above all he successfully led the delegates through the 2-day ‘conference journey’ which we had discussed as a crucial element at the outset. I received a tremendous amount of feedback about James, both during and after the conference, and it was all very positive saying he was great and very funny. I would recommend James to anybody who wants to let someone take control of what you have organised and run it seamlessly in an engaging and professional manner. I will certainly be asking him to run our conference again. ITENZView more
