Jase Te Patu is a popular TED talk speaker and an award winning wellbeing advocate with over 30 years’ experience in the health and wellness sector.

Current work
Jase is the co-owner of Awhi Yoga and Wellbeing and the Founder of M3 Mindfulness for children. Jase facilitates, leads, and inspires many with his simple mindfulness-based techniques that have helped the likes of Hollywood director James Cameron, the All Blacks, the Silver Ferns, The Green Party of Aotearoa - and many more corporate clients.

His work at M3 encompasses mindfulness, movement and Maori stories in a series of videos and live sessions taught to over 10,000 Primary school and Early Childhood aged children throughout New Zealand.
Jase draws upon his 30 years of working in the wellbeing industry, where he has learnt the real value of teaching these skills, particularly to our teachers and children.

Jase says: "Yoga and mindfulness meditation saved my life! M3 is a beautiful way to share these tools and skills with our young ones. If our tamariki and rangatahi can learn strategies from a young age to help them, especially when they are challenged mentally and emotionally, then they will be resourced for life! Jase has received many awards for his work particularly in the mental health and wellbeing space. These include the NZ Exercise Industry Awards, 2018 Body/Mind Teacher of the Year, the Lifekeeper’s Award for Suicide Prevention, the Regional Local Hero medal as part of the New Zealander of the Year Awards 2018, and the Absolutely Positively Wellington Award 2019.

Jase Te Patu hosted a webinar for our people at MBIE, discussing wellbeing, mindfulness and Mental Health. There has been a huge appetite within MBIE to look at Mental Health through a Te Ao Maori lens, and our people were grateful for the opportunity to hear Jase speak. Jase was truly wonderful and led us through the evening with great skill, verve, grace, and good humour. It is a challenging event to run especially as it involves so many categories and so much ‘traffic directing’ of finalists and winners and presenters coming on and off the stage. Plus you had the musicians to direct, the photographer to wait for and the judges to make their speeches. You managed all that so adroitly and intelligently that we actually ended the formalities slightly under the time limit. Ka rawe! You really brought a special touch of magic and aroha to the evening.
