Te Patu

Award-winning wellbeing advocate, co-owner of Awhi Yoga and Wellbeing & Founder of M3 Mindfulness for children

Wellbeing is adjusting your oxygen mask before you adjust others.

Jase Te Patu is a popular TED talk speaker and an award winning wellbeing advocate with over 30 years’ experience in the health and wellness sector.

Current work
Jase is the co-owner of Awhi Yoga and Wellbeing and the Founder of M3 Mindfulness for children. Jase facilitates, leads, and inspires many with his simple mindfulness-based techniques that have helped the likes of Hollywood director James Cameron, the All Blacks, the Silver Ferns, The Green Party of Aotearoa - and many more corporate clients.

His work at M3 encompasses mindfulness, movement and Maori stories in a series of videos and live sessions taught to over 10,000 Primary school and Early Childhood aged children throughout New Zealand.

Jase draws upon his 30 years of working in the wellbeing industry, where he has learnt the real value of teaching these skills, particularly to our teachers and children.

Jase says: "Yoga and mindfulness meditation saved my life! M3 is a beautiful way to share these tools and skills with our young ones. If our tamariki and rangatahi can learn strategies from a young age to help them, especially when they are challenged mentally and emotionally, then they will be resourced for life! Let’s start this work early so our next generation of leaders become super powerful!"

Jase has received many awards for his work particularly in the mental health and wellbeing space. These include the NZ Exercise Industry Awards, 2018 Body/Mind Teacher of the Year, the Lifekeeper’s Award for Suicide Prevention, the Regional Local Hero medal as part of the New Zealander of the Year Awards 2018, and the Absolutely Positively Wellington Award 2019.

Jase is a Champion for Youthline, an Edmund Hillary Fellow and an Ambassador for international brand lululemon.

As a speaker, Jase delivers a heartfelt, powerful, yet humorous story interlinked with his expertise to guide your audience through importance of health and well-being.
As an MC, Jase’s varied skill set makes him the perfect host for any event in the education and health sectors.

Jase Te Patu was a delight to work with. His calm, down to earth manner made him very relatable with the audience. He was able to get through all the content provided to him while also bringing his own personality and experience into the presentation to bring the ceremony to life. We had a large crowd of 630 guests and he was able to keep them under control and run to time, while also allowing the award winners to savour their moments. I could not recommend Jase as an MC highly enough. Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand

Jase Te Patu hosted a webinar for our people at MBIE, discussing wellbeing, mindfulness and Mental Health. There has been a huge appetite within MBIE to look at Mental Health through a Te Ao Maori lens, and our people were grateful for the opportunity to hear Jase speak. Over 650 people attended the webinar, with an never-before-seen level of engagement from our people. The chat box was on fire as people were eager to share and engage with Jase as he shared with us his personal journey and wisdom. Since the webinar, we have received many grateful emails and requests to view the webinar recording. Jase is a taonga in the wellbeing space. His advice is simple, profound and practical. Nga mihi nui.

Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment

Jase was truly wonderful and led us through the evening with great skill, verve, grace, and good humour. It is a challenging event to run especially as it involves so many categories and so much ‘traffic directing’ of finalists and winners and presenters coming on and off the stage. Plus you had the musicians to direct, the photographer to wait for and the judges to make their speeches. You managed all that so adroitly and intelligently that we actually ended the formalities slightly under the time limit. Ka rawe! You really brought a special touch of magic and aroha to the evening. Many people felt it was the best event for several years, and so thank you for being such a big part of making that happen!

I have worked with Jase over the past two years at various events. He is fantastic to deal with and a wonderful facilitator. He is very engaging and down-to-earth and can adapt his presentation to cater to small and large audiences. He is also able to connect to his audience and they love him. Jase provides practical strategies and skills that everyone can implement into their daily lives. He reiterates the importance of being calm, choosing to respond and not just react.

Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand

I have seen Jase speak in three different settings recently; to educators, parents and students. Jase’s authenticity and commanding presence constantly win over his audiences, and even those whom I would consider reticent about mindfulness are interested and asking questions by the end of Jase’s session. As someone trying to fight for the place of mindfulness in my school, Jase has been a huge asset in establishing the validity and value of mindfulness, particularly as it relates to the Te Whare Tapa Wha model, which we as a school use to guide our wellbeing programme. As an ambassador for this mahi, there is no one better that I have seen.

Rathkeale College

It was great that Jase was able to adapt to a changing runsheet and so willing to talk through this with us in advance of the event.

Jase Te Patu is a professional and skilled master of ceremonies. He listened and responded to the needs and intent behind each component of our virtual event and seamlessly adapted each day to changing audiences.
