One of the greatest rugby players of his generation, Kieran Read is the fourth-most-capped All Black in history, with 127 test appearances and 52 as captain. A towering presence in the number 8 jersey, Kieran's international career spanned over a decade, marked by unmatched consistency, leadership, and impact on and off the field.
Debuting for the All Blacks in 2008, Kieran quickly established himself as a vital part of New Zealand’s rugby dominance. His leadership came to the fore when he captained the team from 2013 until his retirement from international rugby in 2019, guiding them through some of their most successful campaigns. A key figure in the All Blacks' World Cup victories in 2011 and 2015, he joined an elite group of players to have won multiple Rugby World Cups.
Kieran’s individual brilliance was recognised globally. He was named World Rugby Player of the Year in 2013 and twice awarded New Zealand Rugby Player of the Year, in 2010 and again in 2013. In 2020, his services to the sport were further honoured when he was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
Balancing his sporting career with education, Kieran holds a Bachelor of Applied Management and a Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science. Since retiring from professional rugby, he remains a highly respected figure in New Zealand sport and public life, bringing the same discipline, thoughtfulness, and humility that defined his playing days into every endeavour he takes on.
