A regenerative entrepreneur and community-builder, Brian Monahan is a visionary leader whose work spans technology, social innovation, and the revival of land-based living.
Raised in rural America by school‑teacher parents, Brian grew up with a deep appreciation for hard work, humility, and community service. His early curiosity and drive took him to Harvard University, but when a side project began to gain momentum, he made a bold decision: he left Harvard to pursue it full-time.
That venture became Inflection.com, the technology company Brian co-founded and guided from a small start-up to a major market player with hundreds of staff. Under his leadership, Inflection earned widespread recognition, including the Northern California Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award for Brian and his brother Matthew.
Following the company’s successful sale, Brian stepped away from the high-speed world of tech to reassess what truly mattered. Confronting a period of mild depression, he rediscovered purpose through nature, family, and meaningful community connection. This shift led Brian and his whānau — including his mum — to relocate to rural Aotearoa.
Now based on a farm in the Hutt Valley, Brian helps co-lead Mangaroa Farms, a regenerative agriculture hub focused on education, food systems, and reconnecting people with whenua and kai. His work is grounded in sustainability, systems change, wellbeing, and community resilience.
Beyond the farm, Brian has played a pivotal role in shaping New Zealand’s innovation landscape. He co-founded Kiwi Connect, Edmund Hillary Fellowship & helped design the world-first Global Impact Visa. His contributions have helped attract global talent to Aotearoa and foster a thriving ecosystem of entrepreneurs and impact-driven leaders.
A natural storyteller, Brian weaves together personal journey, practical insight, and a warm, grounded presence. He speaks openly about entrepreneurship, AI, resilience, mental wellbeing, values-led leadership, and what it means to build communities that endure. Outside his professional world, he’s happiest hiking, diving, listening to music, and engaging in heartfelt conversations that inspire genuine human connection.
