Gareth Kiernan is Acting Managing Director and Chief Forecaster at Infometrics. He leads the forecasting team and oversees the company’s regular economic forecasts, with particular responsibility for the macroeconomic outlook and building and property forecasts.
Gareth joined Infometrics in 1999 after completing an MCom (Hons) in Economics and a BSc in Economics and Statistics at the University of Canterbury. He served as Managing Director from 2006 before moving into the Operations Director role in 2014 and becoming Acting Managing Director in 2026.
During his career, Gareth has completed a wide range of consulting projects, with particular expertise in the housing market, construction sector, labour requirements, regional growth, and cost escalation. His management experience gives him a strong understanding of how economic trends affect business planning, investment, and decision-making.
