Everything changes when you stop numbing and start feeling.
Addiction recovery advocate and best-selling author Lotta Dann has transformed her personal journey into a national movement of change, compassion, and connection. Once anonymously chronicling her decision to quit drinking through a popular blog, Lotta quickly became a powerful voice in the recovery space, known for her raw honesty and relatable storytelling.
Her debut book Mrs D Is Going Without resonated deeply with thousands, laying the groundwork for three more acclaimed titles: Mrs D Is Going Within, The Wine O’Clock Myth, and Mrs D Is Not on a Diet. Each book continues to explore the complexities of modern life, alcohol culture , and the deep work of self-discovery. Lotta’s writing has become a touchstone for countless individuals seeking to turn their lives around.
In partnership with the New Zealand Drug Foundation, she co-founded Living Sober, a vibrant online community that supports over 50,000 people annually. Through this platform, and her work as Project Lead for Addiction 101 at Blueprint for Learning, she has played a pivotal role in challenging stigma and building understanding around addiction.
Lotta’s impact was formally recognised in 2023 when she was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to addiction advocacy. She continues to champion recovery and personal empowerment with a unique blend of vulnerability, humour and heart.
