Lou
Vincent

Former Black Cap | From match-fixing to accountability and second chances

From penthouse to shit house to family house

Profile

Lou Vincent is a former New Zealand international cricketer whose extraordinary journey has taken him from the highs of international sporting success to the depths of personal failure, and ultimately, the challenge of rebuilding his life.

Scoring a century on Test debut was a dream beginning, but behind the success were battles with depression, self-doubt and a constant need to prove himself. His involvement in match-fixing brought his cricket career to an abrupt end, costing him far more than just the game he loved.

Rather than shy away from his past, Lou now speaks openly about his mistakes, the consequences of his decisions and the difficult process of taking responsibility. Combining humour, raw honesty and powerful storytelling, he explores mental health, integrity, resilience, vulnerability and the importance of asking for help.

Now living in Canterbury with his young family and working in business development, Lou brings a fresh perspective to the meaning of success, the power of human connection and the possibility of second chances.

His message is simple: You can't change your past, but you can take ownership of what happens next.

Feedback
We engaged Lou Vincent as a keynote speaker on match-fixing in sport at our inaugural National Sport and Recreation Wānanga which hosted around 200 people. While Lou’s story is public and well documented, hearing him share his experiences in person was powerful. He spoke honestly and openly about match-fixing and its consequences, giving our audience a clear understanding of the personal impact and the importance of the Commission’s work. Lou was genuine, engaging and highly effective as a speaker. Feedback from attendees reflected the strong impression that he made, with many noting the impact of beating directly from someone with lived experience. We also collaborated on a social media post featuring a short clip of his talk, which became one of our best-performing posts. We valued his contribution and would happily recommend him as a speaker. Sports Integrity Commission

Lou closed our company Summit (1500 people were present). We booked Lou when he was getting started on the speaking circuit. He has a great story to tell. He spoke frankly, was very engaging and was able to hold the audience. With a little more polish Lou will be outstanding. We have no hesitation in recommending him and would welcome the opportunity to work with him again.
