Positivity is a strategic advantage.
A respected media professional and communicator with a life shaped by contrast, Melanie’s depth of experience is both unexpected and hard‑earned, forged across television studios, remote cattle stations in the Australian outback, long‑haul flights around the world, and some of life’s most intimate and confronting moments.
Widely recognised by audiences across New Zealand, Melanie spent seven years as a host on Good Morning, where she became known for her calm presence, emotional intelligence and natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Her work in broadcast media built a reputation grounded in trust, authenticity and communication under pressure — skills refined live, daily, and in front of a national audience.
Raised beyond the confiscation line in Taneatua and Ruatoki, Melanie carries a deeply grounded understanding of community, resilience and human behaviour. Her career path has been anything but linear: from driving trucks on a gold mine and working on remote cattle stations, to flying internationally as a flight attendant with Air New Zealand, alongside work as a model, guide dog trainer and accomplished MC. Each chapter has added to a worldview shaped by adaptability, humility and perspective.
For many years, Melanie has also worked as a funeral celebrant, walking closely with families through grief and loss. This role has given her a rare frontline insight into how people respond under pressure, how meaning is formed in moments of crisis, and what truly matters when certainty disappears. Few careers offer such an unfiltered view of humanity.
Today, Melanie’s work sits at the intersection of communication skills, resilience, wellbeing, organisational culture and optimism — underpinned by a clear belief that positivity is not naïve, but strategic. Her perspective is informed not by theory alone, but by lived experience across media, aviation, rural Australia and some of life’s most emotionally complex spaces.
