A seasoned broadcaster with over two decades of experience, Nicky Styris is a respected media presenter and sports journalist known for her dynamic presence and deep understanding of the sporting world.
Nicky’s career in television began after years spent teaching history and physical education, backed by a double major in Physical Education and Arts. Her transition into sports journalism was a natural evolution, combining her academic foundation with a lifelong passion for sport. She launched her media career at TVNZ as a sports reporter, later becoming the host of Sky TV’s Sport 365 News, where she honed her skills in live event coverage and studio presenting.
Since 2016, Nicky has been a key figure at TV3, joining the network as a sports reporter and quickly becoming a familiar face on The AM Show and Newshub’s weekend sports news. Her role extends beyond presenting—she is a trusted voice in sports reporting, bringing clarity, insight, and authenticity to New Zealand’s screens.
Nicky’s connection to sport runs deep. A former New Zealand trampolinist and runner-up in the Miss New Zealand pageant, she also spent time as a fashion model before dedicating herself to journalism. Her personal life has further enriched her perspective—she is married to former Blackcaps cricketer Scott Styris, and together they’ve navigated the highs and challenges of elite sport. After taking time out to support Scott’s international career, Nicky returned to broadcasting with renewed energy and insight.
Beyond sport, Nicky is passionate about health and wellness, particularly for people over 40. She advocates for balance and moderation, sharing practical advice on fitness and nutrition through her social platforms. Her experience also spans education, travel, hospitality, and current affairs, making her a versatile and engaging communicator across a wide range of topics.

We have had the pleasure of working with Nicky Styris at two events as an MC - a gala dinner for 400+ guests and an intimate special luncheon for 80. Nicky is incredibly professional to work with. She will read your notes and knows how to follow a brief. She will research your client, she will be aware of critical timings and key personnel - because of this thorough detailed preparation you will find her ready and able to front your event. Nicky will also ask questions of you if she needs clarification, ensuring she gets things just right. We have also used Nicky to interview key speakers, she has expertly drawn out the relevant information required to fulfil the brief/theme of the day. In addition Nicky is immaculately presented, on event day she can move and roll with changes if required but on top of all that Nicky is great fun to work with. We have really enjoyed working with Nicky and hope to have her host an event again.
The overall feedback we've had has been great.
