Background
His epic solo Tasman voyage took 2 years of planning and 54 days of rowing in the world’s most treacherous stretches of water. Departing from Coffs Harbour, Australia, his journey included rowing into a whale, flipping end over end and spending 30 minutes trapped under his boat. He was blown backwards over 200km but eventually hit the northern tip of New Zealand's ninety mile beach. Shaun’s father, Colin is the only other person to have rowed the Tasman solo - in the other direction back in 1977. Shaun and his father still hold the world records.
Current work
Making the leap into the business world, Shaun successfully launched Transaction Services into the USA market, growing the company to be worth hundreds of millions with over 2 million customers.
He has now moved to the lightning paced world of technology startups. Shaun is the founder of Genoapay, one of the fastest growing payments companies in New Zealand. Within 6 months, the company was valued at close to 10 million dollars. In December of 2018, Genoapay was acquired by Latitude and in 2019 they successfully launched in Australia as LatitudePay. After wrapping up his role as General Manager at Latitude at the end of 2021, Shaun has been sharing his expertise on the board of various business technology and entrepreneurial companies including: Quashed.co.nz, an all-in-one insurance platform, PayLeadr, a billing solutions company, Icehouse Ventures a venture capital firm backing brave kiwi founders and as an Advisor at First AML.
He has raised millions in capital for various companies in New Zealand and is one of the few to experience success in the US market, as well as growing a grass roots New Zealand business.
