Troy Hall is a survivor, business founder, and health and safety advocate whose life changed forever in a single moment.

In October 2011, while working on an avocado orchard, Troy was electrocuted by 110,000 volts—twice. The first strike stopped his heart; the second restarted it. He sustained burns to 60% of his body and spent months in intensive care, facing a long and brutal recovery.

Told he may never walk again, Troy defied every expectation with fierce determination and the support of his daughter, Nevaeh, who became his greatest motivation. Through relentless rehabilitation, he rebuilt not only his body, but his entire outlook on life.

After enduring a traumatic workplace injury, Troy became a passionate advocate for health and safety. His lived experience highlighted the critical need for a safety culture that goes beyond compliance—one that prioritises the wellbeing of every person on site. This commitment led him to found Safety 1st Innovations, a business consultancy focused on promoting better safety practices and developing programmes that address both physical risk and mental resilience in the workplace.

Troy is also the proud founder of Crispy Avo, a successful fruit and vegetable distribution business. Through it, he stays connected to his community while proving that growth is always possible—even after devastation.

Troy uses his story to drive conversation, improve safety culture, and remind us all that behind every regulation is a human life. For him, it’s simple: when we value people, we protect them.
